During the pre-legislative hearing on the bill entitled “National Electronic Communications Act 2022”, Honorable Members from the Main Opposition All People’s Congress Party (APC) Hon. Daniel Koroma, Hon. Dr. Kalokoh, Hon. Abdul Kargbo among others, have on Wednesday the 2nd February 2022, ranked Information Minister Mohamed Rahman Swaray as the Best performing Minister in President Bio’s Administration.

They premised their ranking on the fact that the Minister has been working assiduously in making sure that all the laws he has taken to Parliament are people centered laws.

The APC MPs added that all the laws which have been passed into law under the auspices of Minister Swarray will stand the test of time.

APC Hon. Daniel Koroma particularly expressed optimism that even the new Bill “The National Electronic Communication ACT 2022”, which is an Act to establish the National Communications Authority and to provide for the licensing of electronic communications operators and relevant matters, will definitely address the fundamental challenges consumers/citizens are faced with in dealing with Mobile Network Operators.

Expressing his gratification for ranking him as the best performing Minister especially from the Main Opposition Party, the Information Minister Mohamed Rahman Swaray said such expression coming from the Main Opposition is truly commendable. He added that he is grateful for such commendation but that will not go up his head to deviate him from the good work he is doing for the nation.

Mohamed Rahman Swarray encouraged Members of Parliament especially the APC members of parliament to work together in doing what is best for Sierra Leone.   He continued that bills such as the National Electronic Communications Act 2022, will address the many challenges people encounter with the Mobile Network Operators.

“I am not sure there is anything erroneously placed in the Cyber Security Bill because I don’t want all the powers allocated to the Minister.  We want to build a strong institution which is the more reason you ranked me as the best Minister”, he said.
