The honorable member of the main opposition All People`s Congress party (APC) Mohamed Bangura has heaped praises on the free quality education programme initiated by President Maada Bio.
In an exclusive interview with this medium, the law maker representing constituency 066 in Karene District said amongst the many projects or plans introduced by the SLPP government the free education project are the most successful.
Hon Bangura noted that having educated citizens adds to the human capital development of a country and further urged the government to maintain the quality aspect of the programme.
He advised the government to improve on the school feeding programme as according to him children would not concentrate in class if they are hungry.
Hon Bangura admonished the government to improve on other aspects of governance especially on issues that relates to the ordinary man which is the economy.
“During elections people are more concerned about inflation and the economy”, he warned.
He called on politicians and the general citizenry as a whole to think Sierra Leone and to stop politicizing everything that happens in the country.
It should be noted that in 2021, Hon Bangura declared his intention for the Chairmanship position of the All People’s Congress (APC) party.
When asked about his plans to achieve his ambition, he revealed that he has withheld such until further notice.
According to Hon Mohamed Bangura he reasoned out that the would-be flag bearer Dr. Samura Kamara hails from Karene district and it would be very difficult for the national chairman of the APC to be elected from the same region.
He revealed his decision to throw his support behind Dr. Samura Kamara for the upcoming 2023 elections which according to him is based on the fact that he is the most popular and experienced public sector administrator and politician in the APC.
Hon Bangura called on the general membership of the party to abide by the provisions of the new party constitution.
“The constitution has made provision for every position within the structures of the party to be elected rather than selected as this will ease fracas within the party and it will bring peace to all”, he explained.
He stated that the new constitution has paved the way for politicians to meet and know their people, and to work hard in convincing them about their intention to be voted for.
