There have been clusters of meetings convened at the All Peoples Congress (APC) party offices in a bid to replace Amb. Osman Foday Yansanneh as Secretary-General of the party.
The latest one was the close door meeting held on Thursday afternoon at the party headquarters in Freetown. The said meeting was graced by supporters of the party’s lawyer, Lansana Dumbuya who were seen putting on T-shirts endorsing his intension to run for that position within the party hierarchy.
Although there were limited spaces in the Ernest Bai Koroma hall where the meeting took place, priority was given to party stalwarts to attend leaving out a chunk of pro Dumbuya supporters waiting outside the tiny hall.
However, that meeting stretched into the time of the thanks- giving meeting which was on schedule. A-Z Newspaper eavesdrop murmurs of disapproval from supporters of Ambassador Yansaneh who had sat there waiting for the big meeting.
According to Amb. Foday Yansaneh, he met some supporters of his challenger wearing on their T-shirts and “when i greeted them, they turned away, ” the old man said.
In his key note address during a thanking giving program for the non conviction of the party’s Western Area Regional Organizing Secretary, Herbert George Williams and his PRO, Abu Bakarr Daramy. Amb. Yansaneh admonished that unity is the only tool for the party to get make a come back.
He stressed the point that the interest of the party should be put above personal interests. He said at this time, the party needs everyone onboard to enable them defeat the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in the 2023 presidential election.
He said the party is covered by the blessings of its past and present leaders referring to the party Chairman, former President Koroma and himself as a strategic fighter.
Being the surety for Herbert George Williams and Daramy, Amb. Yansaneh said lawyer Dumbuya was not alone in the legal battle adding that the party has a battery of lawyers to represent its members in court when necessary.
The lawyer aspirant, Dumbuya has his eyes on Yansaneh’s position and this is the third time he is opting for the position and lost.
Our sources within the party intimated this medium that the erudite lawyer is yet again wasting his energy- freeing party members in court thinking he will be given the position.
