It is clear that the Interim Transition Governance Committee (ITGC) will take legal action against the All People’s Congress (APC) party for interpretation of the two rulings that mandated them to govern the overall affairs of the APC until the National Delegates Conference (NDC).

Chairman of ITGC, Dr. Alfred Peter Conteh has written a letter to the Political Party Registration Commission (PPRC) regarding the High Court variations that were not strictly followed by the party. He claimed that the ITGC is the only body mandated by the High Court to conduct the NDC under the supervision of the PPRC.

He noted that by the ruling of Justice Fisher, the life span of the TIIEMC was supposed to have ended by 17th February, 2023 whilst the ITGC was supposed to serve till 25 February. He said the Chairman of the TIIEMC, Ibrahim Sorie (Esq) had delivered the Certificate of Compliance which meant that their mandate to organise the lower level elections had been accomplished.

It could be recalled that the ruling of 28th April established the ITGC pursuant to paragraph 90.8.1-6   and on 23rd November,2022 another variation was slammed on the Committee giving them 29th January, 2023 as the deadline for them to conduct the NDC.

The Court also establish  guidelines as to how the TIIEMC was to be constituted pursuant to paragraph 66.3,1-6 of Fisher’s judgment limiting them to lower level elections rather than the just concluded NDC which is outside their mandate.

The injunction to withhold the NDC was lifted by Justice Hannah Bonnie who is said to have been misled by party lawyers.

After hearing from the PPRC, Dr. Richard Conteh will proceed to the Court for interpretation of the various variations which is believed will waste the party’s time preparing its newly elected flag bearer, Dr. Samura to face the already popular President Maada Bio.
