The recently and first ever appointed Ambassador of Sierra Leone Entertainment and Investment, Denis Amara Turay aka Kao Denero, is on his toes to make sure that the expectations of Sierra Leoneans especially those in the entertainment sector are met. In line with this ambition, the Ambassador over the weekend met with some stakeholders in the entertainment sector at the Police Women Association Hall, Kingtom, Freetown. Lots of issues were discussed bordering on advancement of the industry.
Lack of structure in the entertainment industry was one of the key issues identified. Ambassador Kao has pledged commitment in responding to this challenge. He has however observed that this is not a problem he alone can handle and has thought it prudent to embark on consultation with other entertainers to garner all shades of opinions in establishing a structured and lucrative entertainment industry.
Whiles trying to quickly put things in place in country, the Entertainment Ambassador is also seen making frantic efforts to reach out to the wider world with respect to Sierra Leone entertainment particularly targeting prominent TV channels for them to be playing and talking about Sierra Leonean music videos, films among others.
In line with that, Ambassador Kao had posted on his Facebook page that plans are underway to have a national Sierra Leone entertainment website where one can browse and check out all the latest updates about various Acts, Producers, Actors, Directors, Comedians, DJs, Bloggers and the like.
In another recent Facebook post, the Sierra Leone Entertainment and Investment Ambassador stated that Sierra Leone is currently bidding to host the 2022 MTV MAMA Awards as one of the top priorities under his tenure.
Entertainment enthusiasts are of the conviction that with the expressed intentions it is very likely and glaring that if entertainers rally around Ambassador Kao, and he himself remain open-minded to work with one and all in the industry, the future of Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry would be brighter.
