Alleged Theft: Trader Remanded in Custody

Eighteen-year-old trader Amidu Koroma made his first appearance before Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon of Pademba Road Court No. 3 in Freetown, facing charges of burglary and larceny, contrary to sections 25(1) and 13(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Friday, 5th September 2025, at No. 56, off Regent Road, Lumley, in the Western Area of Freetown, Koroma, with the intent to steal, allegedly broke into the dwelling house of Christian Amana. During the break-in, he is accused of stealing one thousand nine hundred dollars (USD 1,900), twelve thousand Leones (Le 12,000) in cash, and one WiFi modem, all with a total value of fifty-eight thousand eight hundred Leones (Le 58,800), the property of Christian Amana.

When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.

Prosecutor Inspector Mohamed Kamara requested a short adjournment to present his first witness.

Magistrate Kallon denied bail and remanded the defendant to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 30th September 2025.
