In a recent court appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown, three individuals, namely Mohamed Kuyateh (47), Osman Sesay (45), and Alpha Bangura (25), found themselves facing grave charges of conspiracy and murder.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, in Kortoboima Village, Valunia Chiefdom, Bo, within the Southern Province of Sierra Leone. Allegedly, the accused, along with unidentified others, conspired to commit the felony of murder, resulting in the death of Issa Kanu.
DPC Thoronka K.K, leading the prosecution, presented Witness Number Three, Issa Kamara, a laborer, who provided crucial testimony. Kamara recounted that on the aforementioned date, he observed three men at his camp, claiming they had encountered the first accused person at the Masoner office in Pujehun. The witness further revealed that the first accused person had allegedly ordered a halt to work activities due to his wife’s labor pains.
Subsequently, news of the arrest of the first accused person spread, leading to an interrogation at the Baomah Police Station. During this process, allegations of the first accused person’s involvement in the deceased’s demise surfaced, prompting further investigation by law enforcement.
Despite being unrepresented, the accused individuals were denied bail and remanded to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The matter has been adjourned until March 6th, 2024, for continued proceedings.
