38 years old Amadu Lahai a Fire Force Officer has on Wednesday December 13th 2023, dragged to Court for killing a lady with his car.
The accused made his first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No 1 Freetown on 7 count charges ranging from Manslaughter contrary to law, Dangerous driving to Careless and irresponsible Driving, and Failing to take vehicle for examination.
The accused Amadu Lahai on the 11th June 2023, at 41b O’Neil Street back of Albert Academy, 200 hours along Main Motor Road Brookfields Freetown, the accused being the driver in control of Nissan Sentra car with registration number ANC 746 did drive the vehicle in a dangerous manner to the public and unlawfully killed Hannah Sowa, of No.1 Hill Station, whilst Ezekiel Maturi, Sulaiman Kamara and Abu-Bakar Joseph Kabia sustained injury.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, no plea taken.
The Prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Lahai M asked for a seek for a short adjournment date to bring his witness which was granted by the Magistrate.
The accused person has no legal representation. Meanwhile, Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent him to the male correctional center in Freetown matter adjourned to the 20th December 2023.
