Thirty-year-old Hassanatu Jalloh, an unemployed woman, made another appearance before Magistrate Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, facing charges of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Friday, 8th August 2025, at No. 28 Thirst Drive, Lumley, in the Western Area of Freetown, the defendant, with the intent to steal, broke into the dwelling house of Salamatu Sesay and stole the sum of ten thousand Leones (10,000), the property of Elizabeth Fassay, while the cash was in the custody of Salamatu Sesay.

Prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai submitted that this was the case for the prosecution.

Magistrate Jah, after carefully reviewing the evidence presented before the court, ruled that the prosecution had provided sufficient evidence to put the defendant on trial. He therefore committed the defendant to stand trial at the High Court. Magistrate Jah certified that the evidence from the prosecution witnesses was taken in his presence and that the defendant had been given the opportunity to cross-examine the witnesses.

The defendant was granted bail in the sum of twenty thousand Leones (20,000) with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must reside in Freetown and produce valid identity cards with addresses in Freetown. The bail was to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
