Justice Sahr Elogima Kekura JA, presiding over the High Court Criminal Sessions in Kambia, has sentenced Alimamy Kamara to eight years imprisonment on a single count of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on 1 June 2025, at Masorie Village in Samu Chiefdom, Kambia District, in the North-West Region of Sierra Leone, the convict broke and entered the dwelling house of Ibrahim Sorie Fofanah and stole eight thousand Leones (Le 8,000) in cash, the property of the said Fofanah.
When the charge was read and explained, the accused pleaded guilty. He was not legally represented and appealed to the court for leniency.
In delivering judgment, Justice Kekura noted that the convict did not waste the court’s time by entering an early guilty plea and requesting mercy. However, considering the gravity of the offence, the judge sentenced him to eight years imprisonment, to be served at the Male Correctional Facility in Kambia.
