In a remarkable celebration of local talent, Air Sierra Leone’s management hosted a special reward ceremony to honor Philip, a young Sierra Leonean with impressive autocraft skills. The event took place at the airline’s head office on Thursday, July 10, 2025, and was attended by representatives from the airline’s management, the media, government officials, and civil society members.
Philip, a resident of Freetown, was awarded a free round-trip ticket on Air Sierra Leone’s Embraer-145 flight from Freetown to Lagos in recognition of his detailed and beautifully crafted model of the airline’s aircraft, which closely resembles the real Embraer-145 plane.
Speaking on behalf of the airline, Communications Officer Diction Bona, Esq., said the reward was intended to motivate Philip to continue developing his art. “The management is delighted to reward Philip with this free trip, and he is also entitled to another complimentary round-trip ticket to Lagos at a convenient time later this year,” Bona added.
He further stated, “His handmade model will be proudly displayed in our office, symbolizing the spirit of small beginnings and the power of imagination.”
Philip expressed deep appreciation to Air Sierra Leone’s management for the recognition. He pledged to dedicate himself even more to his autocraft work and to improve his skills.
“I thank the management for rewarding my talent, even though I had no prior agreement with them to model the flight. Receiving such an incredible opportunity because of my Embraer-145 model is a huge blessing. As a young man with a passion for creating detailed replicas of physical objects, including humans, structures, and other items, I am truly honoured,” he stated.
During the ceremony, the airline’s management praised Philip for his craftsmanship and encouraged him to continue honing his skills. They reiterated their commitment to supporting his growth and building his confidence in autocraft.
Philip will have the unique opportunity to travel aboard the very aircraft he modeled, reinforcing the airline’s dedication to nurturing and celebrating Sierra Leonean talent.
