Air Sierra Leone has announced the expansion of its international operations with the addition of a second weekly flight to London Gatwick, beginning August 11, 2025. The move aims to meet increasing passenger demand and enhance connectivity between Freetown and the United Kingdom.

The national carrier will now operate two weekly direct flights between Freetown and London. According to the updated schedule, flights will depart London Gatwick on Monday and Friday evenings, with return flights from Freetown scheduled for Tuesday and Saturday mornings.

Speaking about the expansion, Group Chief Operating Officer Mr. Sukh Mann said the revised schedule is designed to offer greater flexibility and convenience for travelers.

“The increased frequency reflects our commitment to this route and the growing demand for direct connectivity,” he stated.

Mr. Mann emphasized that the direct service eliminates the need for long layovers or transit through third countries.

“The total travel time is now just six hours,” he added.

Passengers on the route can also look forward to enhanced onboard services, including a curated selection of Sierra Leonean and continental cuisine. The flights will be operated using the Boeing 737 MAX 8 in partnership with Ascend Airways.

Looking ahead, Mr. Mann revealed plans to introduce a third weekly service during the winter season. He also noted ongoing efforts to connect Freetown with other major West African cities, enabling more travelers in the region to access the London route more conveniently.

General Manager Mr. Edgard Lacle confirmed that the additional seats are now available for booking.

“We’re excited to welcome more travelers onboard and continue building our international network,” he said.
