The Regional Commander of Freetown-East, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Brima Kanneh, on Wednesday, 4th February 2026, held his first Task Coordinating Group (TCG) meeting with Police Commanders of the Freetown-East Region.

During the meeting, AIG Kanneh commended all Local Unit Commanders (LUCs), Operations Officers, Heads of Department, and personnel for their professional conduct during the recent festive period. He noted that policing activities were carried out successfully without any serious community incidents.

However, the Regional Commander raised concerns about the increasing trend of street jogging activities, particularly on Sundays in Wellington and Calaba Town, which are often conducted without police clearance. He directed commanders to ensure that such unlawful gatherings are promptly addressed and peacefully dispersed in accordance with established policing standards.

AIG Kanneh further urged commanders to begin adequate preparations for the forthcoming Lower-Level Elections. He emphasized the importance of aligning security operations with the electoral calendar and maintaining law and order throughout the entire electoral process.

He also called for strengthened enforcement and continuous monitoring of Operation Push Back and the protection of the right-of-way, especially along key corridors within the region, including the Eastern Police corridors, Jui Junction, and the Waterloo axis.

Additionally, the Regional Commander encouraged all Operations Officers to intensify efforts in conducting robust operations against illegal drug activities and to increase community patrols aimed at enhancing public safety and security.

Contributions from commanders across the Freetown-East Region indicated that the area remains relatively peaceful, with no major security threats currently reported.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by commanders to strengthen coordination, uphold professionalism, and ensure the continued safety and security of communities within the Freetown-East Region.
