LATE PRESIDENT AHMAD TEJAN KABBA
BY PROBLYN J. ALPHA
The Ahmad Tejan Kabbah foundation for peace and development has organized a two day dialogue across divisions training for media personalities and stakeholders with the sole aim of promoting dialogue for effective Civic participation and national cohesion held at the Kono District Council hall D.O Barracks in Koidu City.
One of the facilitators of the said training Emmanuel Sahr John, told this medium that, with funds from the open society initiative for west Africa (OSIWA), the training was to educate the participants on how to disseminate the messages of tolerance, Human rights, Peace and Democracy before, during, and after the 2023 general elections in the country.
Mr. John allayed the abounding suspicion of the participants that, the foundation is a political tool for the ruling Sierra Leone people’s party, because of the late man’s position as president under the SLPP Government. He said the Foundation is apolitical institution that stands for peace, Tolerance Human Rights, and Democracy; and therefore assured all of the foundation’s independence.
Emmanuel Sahr John further expressed delight for the participants and implored them to serve as ambassadors of the training knowledge in the fourteen chiefdoms that constitute Kono District.
It could be recalled that, the man named after the foundation became president of the republic of sierra Leone on the 29th March, 1996 to 2007 who many people described as father of democracy and the man of peace.
Meanwhile the creation of a WhatsApp group for the sharing of vital information on the operations of the foundation coupled with discussion of activity plans and strategies for the effective implementation of the foundation formed high point of the two days training.
