A cross-section of the Sierra Leone People’s Party Young Generation Executive members have on Wednesday 17th August, 2022, paid courtesy visit on the Inspector General of Police – Mr. William Fayia Sellu at Police Headquarters, George Street, in Freetown.

Engineer Francis Alpha Kallon, the SLPP Young Generation Leader congratulated IGP Sellu on his appointment and further thanked him and the entire membership of the SLP for their prompt and timely response during the insurrection on Wednesday 10th August, 2022.

Engineer Kallon expressed his profound condolences and sympathy for the loss of the brave Police Officers that were brutally murdered while executing their lawful duties.

He maintained that as the young generation leader, he had always engaged the minds of the youth to emulate good characters for the peace and development of the nation.

“In a democratic society, we as SLPP young Generation, believe in the rule of law and our youth will never engage in any violent activities that will cause the loss of lives”, he reaffirmed.

IGP Sellu was pleased to receive the Executive and expressed profound thanks and appreciation to the Leader and team for such recognition.

Mr. Sellu furthered that this has been his second official engagement since he was appointed as the Inspector General of Sierra Leone Police.

He entreated the Young Generation Executive to continue engaging the youth to refrain from violence as we are approaching the electioneering period.

Mr. Sellu briefed the Executive about the action so far taken about the six police personnel that were murdered during the August 10th, 2022 saga, across some parts of Freetown and the North-East region; and few suspects that were arrested while others have been declared wanted.

He continued that the burial ceremony will commence on Tuesday 23rd of August 2022, with a big mass at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA), Hastings Campus, and that they will be buried on the same day; as their family members have consented to have a monument that will show that these were the Police Officers that were killed in a violent demonstration sometime in Sierra Leone, he reaffirmed.

On behalf of the entire Sierra Leone Police, IGP Sellu thanked the Young Generation Leader and his team for recognizing the effort of the Police and reassuring them of his maximum support at all times. He promised to relate the gesture to the Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
