Bo Rangers Football Club on 27th January 2023 defeated East End Lions Football Club by a goal to nil at the Government Trade Center field Kissy Dock Yard.
Abu Komeh, the indomitable striker of the match, scored the only goal to ensure Bo Rangers move 7 points clear in the premier league table, and 9 points ahead of East End Lions.
Abu Komeh is currently having good form after consecutively scoring in three matches with Kamboi Eagles, Lamboi FC and East End Lions) respectively. He now leads the highest goal chat with five goals (5).
This is the first away win for the Elephant over the Killers since 2011. East End Lions have enjoyed dominance over their counterparts for quite some time winning 8 games out of 10 previous encounters. Bo Rangers on the other hand, had only managed a win and a draw since 2011.
It could be recalled that East End Lions defeated Bo Rangers last season 3-1 at home with Bo Rangers also securing a 2-1 victory over them at home. The Defending Champions Bo Rangers, who are currently unbeaten this season, are in their vim and vigor to host Central Parade in their next match over the weekend.
East End Lions Football Club enjoyed the bulk of the ball and possession in both halves but failed to put the ball back in the net. Wingers like Prince Barrie, and Alphajor, all missed possible chances that could have put the match beyond expectation of the Rangers. On the other side of the pendulum, the Rangers Strikers Abu Komeh, Sufian Kalakoh got two chances each deep into the second half which could have caused more danger for the host East End Lions.
Abadi Foray, the Head Coach of Bo Rangers Football Club, expressed elation that they were happy to have gotten such a vital win against one of their aggressive rivals.
“East End Lions Football Club has a huge edge over us; the win has now given us the belief as a team going forward in the quest to defend our title as it is our aim as the current Champions of the Sierra Leone Premier League”.
He affirmed that his boys worked with the game plan very well adding that, the team prepared for the match which led to their meritorious away win.
“Am very confident of the win and my boys made it possible for the team, we aim to defend the title, and that is what we are working on as a team, as of now we are playing as Champions and that clearly shows in the match”, he said.
He dedicated the win to the fans as they always turn up in large numbers to give their support to the team. He also assured that as a Technical team, they are determined to defend the title in order to play in the African Champions League for the second time in a row.
Raymond Hunter, the Assistant Coach of East End Lions Football Club, conceded defeat noting that, his team failed to translate their chances into fruition. He however, assured his fans that the team would bounce back in the next matches. He considered that defeat as a huge task in order to catch the current Champions Bo Rangers as they are now leading them by nine points at the top of the Sierra Leone Premier League.
