The Leader and Chairman of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray who’s alleged to have sexually penetrated a fifteen year-old-girl appeared before Justice Samuel O Taylor at the Modern Sexual Penetration Court in Freetown on 1st June, 2021. The accused person is before the court on seven counts charges contrary to the Sexual Offense Act of 2019.
Testifying in court Second Defense Witness (Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray) said he owns houses in the following places No.25 John Kelley Street Koidu Town, No.7 Tucker Drive Majay Town Goderich Freetown, No.5 Charles Street Makeneh Makeni, No 3 Back Eye Lunser and No. 6 off site Bo.
He said as he did not win the 2018 Presidential Elections he remained an opposition leader in Sierra Leone. He continued to say he is a politician and after the 2018 election he decided to engage in entrepreneurship by opening V.P Construction and Real Estate and to build Embassy Hotel.
He said he knew the alleged victim fairly. He denied ever having sexual intercourse and he will never have sexual intercourse with minor.
He also denied conspiring with anybody to have sex with the alleged victim nor had any private meeting with the alleged victim.
Second Defense Witness said he came to knew the alleged victim through the second accused person Marion Arouni in December, 2020.
According him this was the time he was traveling to the US to see his children for a month. He said when he returned before Christmas, he decided in late December, 2020 to pursue his building project that is building three hotels, one in Kono, Makeni and Bo.
He said he spent both Christmas and New Year engaged in the construction of his hotels. He said sometime in June, 2020 Mr. Arouni came to his site (the husband of the second accused person) and he requested if he can hire him to work for him at his site.
Kamarmiba stated that he told Mr. Arouni that he is too old to do the machinery job. He added that Mr. Arouni replied that he was ready to volunteer and he would be coming to the site for monitoring.
Second Defense Witness said he gave him some money. He said he told Mr. Arouni that he was very impressed that he came to look for a job. He added that the next day Mr. Arouni came with his wife Marion Arouni (the second accused person) and two younger children aged two and four.
He said the man showed him the alleged victim that she is part of their family. He continued to say the same week, the wife Marion Arouni with her two children asked him for favors to pay school fee and to purchase uniform. He said he was not in Kono on the 14th February, 2020 of the alleged incident.
He said the alleged victim and her mother asked him to assist with school fees for the girl to enroll into a private school. He said he went along with girl and her mother to the school in question and met the principle but the school was closed for the academic year.
He said he give 20,000/00 each to over 25 teachers at the said private school and he left. He said Marion, Mr. Arouni and the biological mother of the alleged victim Tidankay requested him to visit them to see their family members in June, 2020. He said the second accused person said she will celebrate the alleged victim birthday and he bought one create soft drink for them. He said one of his friend was about to visit him from Switzerland from the 3rd to the 10th February, 2020 and later he went to Makeni the 11th February, 2020 and stayed for the construction of his hotel.
He said he organized Christmas party for his workers in Kono at the Lion Mountain Hotel in December, 2019, and on Valentine Day he spent it with his workers in Makeni.
It could be recalled that on the 14th February, 2020, on Valentine Day, in Kono District in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray allegedly sexually penetrated a 15 year old girl, which is prohibited by the Law of Sierra Leone.
Lawyer Umu Sumaray is representing the State while A. Koroma, R.M. Coker, E.A.Mansaray and F.B.Bangurar are representing the first accused person. Matter has been adjourned to the 3rd June, 2021.
