The Resident Minister in the Southern Region, Mohamed E.K Alie who doubles as the Regional Coordinator of NACOVERC in the Southern Region has disclosed that adequate funding is a challenge in the fight against COVID-19.
Speaking to this medium from Moyamba during his regional tour to DICOVERCs in the Southern Region, Mr. Alie said that it is daily routine that he has embarked on to do monitoring and supervision but he is not waiting until funds are available as the third wave of COVID -19 is deadly.
He said that they went to Moyamba district because it has also recorded the third wave of the pandemic and they are working as a team to fight against COVID- 19.
According to him, he is so far impressed with the work of DICOVERC in Moyamba and whether there is funds or not they are doing their response against the pandemic.
“Adequate resources is a challenge to fight against COVID-19 but the Moyamba DICOVERC is committed to working as a team.’’
Mr. Alie said that Moyamba is however getting support from Plan International and this is not only peculiar to the District.
He said that after Moyamba, they will be going to Bo and later proceed to Pujehun to look at the crossing points, adding that they will be visiting Bonthe District.
The Regional Public Relations Officer of NACOVERC in the Southern Region Anthony Newman Levay said that Sierra Leone has started recording Zero case, which is a testament to the fact Sierra Leoneans are complying with the measures of the fight against COVID-19.
The Bo District Secretary General of Civil Society, Momoh S. Kamara said that that it is a step in the direction taken by regional coordinator of NACOVERC and his team to visit DICOVERC offices in the south and his interaction will help in the fight against COVID-19.
