His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio recently held a high-level meeting with João Cravinho, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Sahel Region. The engagement marks a significant step in Sierra Leone’s deepening commitment to promoting regional stability and fostering international cooperation.

As the newly appointed Chairperson of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, President Bio is acutely aware of the pressing issues confronting the Sahel region, including security threats, climate change, and economic instability. During their discussion, both leaders underscored the urgent need for coordinated efforts to address these complex challenges.

“Together, we can make a significant impact,” President Bio affirmed, reiterating his administration’s commitment to building strategic partnerships that can deliver sustainable solutions.
