Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker has on Monday 22nd August 2022 remanded Foday Koroma for allegedly breaking into Vitalis Ubawuchi house and stealing a Techno mobile phone valued at one thousand, five hundred Leones (Le1, 500) and a bag containing six thousand Leones totalling seven thousand, five hundred Leones (Le7, 500).
Foday Koroma appeared before the court on a one-count indictment of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
It was alleged by the police that the accused, on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Farma Lane, Babadorie in Lumley Freetown, broke into the complainant’s house and stole a Tecno mobile phone valued at one thousand, five hundred Leones and a bag contained six thousand, five hundred Leones, all total of seven thousand, five hundred Leones (Le7,500).
Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) Hawa Bah led the first prosecution witness (PW) 1Vitalis Ubawuchi businessman and testified that he recognized the accused person as his employee and could recall on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. He was at his residence at Farma Lane Babadorie in Lumley, upon his arrival, when he entered in his bedroom, he discovered that his room was ransacked and his Techno mobile valued at one thousand Five hundred Leones (Le1,500) was missing and also his bag that contained six thousand Leones (Le6,000) was missing as well.
PW1 Vitalis Ubawuchi said he noticed the ceiling of the bedroom was broken into, which warranted him to call his Landlady Haja Zainab. The witness said he told the police officer that he suspected the accused.
He said he and a team of police officers from the Lumley Police Division arrested the accused at his residence in Freetown.
On the following date, he and a team of police officers conducted a search at the accused’s residence and during the search; he reported the matter to the Lumley Police Division in Freetown.
He said he and a team of police officers arrest the accused at his residence, adding on the following day they searched the accused’s residence, and a Tecno mobile phone including a memory card was discovered.
The accused was denied bail and remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown. Meanwhile, the matter was adjourned to August 27, 2022.
