Magistrate Isata Tucker of Pademba Road Court No.2 has ordered one William Collins to be remanded at the male correctional Center after he was arraigned before her on allegations of theft. The accused is before the court for Robbery with Violence and larceny.
Police alleged that on the 1st of January 2023 at Hill Street around bottom mango Wilberforce in Freetown, the accused robbed one Alusine Bangura an Itel A 14 mobile phone and tried to stab him with a knife.
Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of Police Hawa Bah, complainant Alusine Bangura recognized the accused person at the dock.
Complainant who resides at N08 chapel street regent in Freetown, and a driver narrated before the jammed packed court that on the date in question, he was taking the wife of his boss home from church and had to stop at a restaurant at hill street by bottom mango at Wilberforce because his boss said that his wife was hungry.
Complainant said his boss and the wife went into the restaurant whiles he stayed in the car wind the glasses down because the weather was too hot.
He said he was seating inside the car when he saw a motor bike coming from behind, the accused disembarked from it and approached him with a knife in his hand.
Complainant said the accused put him under siege with the knife on his throat demanding for his cell phone which he handed over to him peacefully.
He tried to chase the accused and the two others who were on top of the bike riding behind him a long distance but was over powered so he started to shout ‘thief thief’.
Explaining further, complainant said some bike riders whom were riding at that time had to chase after the accused and caught him and take him to the congo cross police station.
He said he later went to the police station and made statement which was recorded down.
At the conclusion of his testimony, magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker adjourned the matter to the 3rd of February 2023 for further hearings and the accused was escorted to the correctional center.
