Accused Persons Discharged Of Murder

Justice Alhaji Momoh-Jah Stevens in Freetown has acquitted and discharged, Gbessay Kargbo and Amadu Bailor Jalloh popularly known as the Network of Murder.

The two men were discharged for murder after a 12-man jury panel returned a not-guilty verdict.

The accused persons first appeared for preliminary investigation at the Magistrate court last year for conspiracy to commit murder and murder.

During the PI, the prosecution led in evidence Government Consultant Pathologist, Simeon Owizz Koroma who testified that the death of the alleged victim was unnatural.

During the trial, the prosecution led evidence from several witnesses

Evidence from the prosecutor, Musa Pious Sesay revealed that the fracas ensued from a civil matter for a plot of land. The first defendant was said to have made threatening remarks against the now-deceased in court after he testified against him.

The Prosecutor in his summing up said the second accused together with other men was later said, that he was seen beating the now deceased at Madonkeh Village.

Witnesses said that they spotted the two accused persons leaving the scene with a motorbike later.

The accused persons upon arraignment denied the allegations that were read and explained to them.

The 12-man jury retired in a private room returning to the court with a non-guilty verdict of both accused persons.
