In the high court of Freetown, Umaru Barrie made his final appearance before Justice Ansumana Ivan Sesay of the high court no.1 in Freetown where he was acquitted and discharged of the charge he’s standing trial for due to no further Prosecution by the Complainant, he was indicted on one count charge of Fraudulent Conversion contrary to section 20 (1) (iv) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence the accused person Umaru Barrie on a date unknown between the 1st and the 31st July 2018, at Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, fraudulently converts to his own use and benefit certain properties, that is to say One TVs motorbike with registration number AKO 675 valued at Nine Million Leones entrusted to him by Alfred Kamara in order that the said accused person Umaro Barrie uses the said bike for commercial purposes.
The accused person was acquitted and discharged due to no further Prosecution by the complainant since the start of the matter.
The judge in his address said Justice delayed is justice denied and that the accused person has been in custody and made appearances but the complainant has over the previous hearings of the matter never showed up for the matter and hereby acquits and discharged the accused person.
