ACC URGES PUBLIC OFFICERS TO DECLARE ASSETS

The Anti-Corruption Commission has urged public officers to declare their assets, income and liabilities in a public notice issued out on Thursday 24th February 2022.

In a written statement, Patrick Sandi the Director of Public Relations and Outreach said pursuant to section 11 9(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act of 2008 as amended in 2019 reveals that public officers are to declare their assets including income and liabilities on or before the deadline date of 31st March 2022. He also added that section 119(1) stated that every public officer must declare his or her assets to the commission within three months of becoming a public officer.

He stated that after every two years, public officers should declare their assets, income and liabilities and also when leaving office.

 “The categories of teachers in government and government-assisted schools that are expected to declare their income, assets and liabilities during this declaration period 2022 are Principals, Vice-Principals, Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers and Bursars.

“All other teachers in grade 7 and above are exempted from this year’s declaration requirement,’’ said Patrick Sandi.

Anti- Corruption Commission said that administrative sanction would be implemented for any false, inaccurate or misleading information especially during the process of declaration as it is spelt in the constitution.

The Commission revealed that all declarations should be done online through the website.
