The people of small Sefadu in Gbense Chiefdom, Kono District together with their town Chief Sahr Chendeka have appealed to the Mayor of the Koidu New Sembehun City Council his Worship Ambassador Komba Matthew Sam to prevail on Engineer Aiah George for the proper construction of the bridge leading to their Village Small Sefadu.
According to them, the bridge which is under construction is not properly done, and at any time when there is a heavy down pour of rain, water settles around the said bridge thereby making it very difficult for people to access the village and Koidu City from either sides.
They are further expecting Mayor Sam to implore the Engineer or contractor in charge of the construction of the bridge to re-construct the bridge so that the problem of water settling around the bridge will be addressed for easy access.
However, Chief Sahr Chendeka has on behalf of his people thanked the Mayor of Koidu City for his timely intervention in awarding the said bridge for construction although it is unprofessionally done by the contractor.
“As the reward for hard work is more work” we are also calling on his worship the Mayor of Koidu City to also award the bridge on the Moinde river for construction as it is the short cut road to access Koidu City from Small Sefadu” ,The people of small Sefadu and the town Chief appealed.
“The reason why we are appealing for the aforesaid bridge to be properly constructed is because the bridge is presently serving as a death trap especially when commercial motor bikes ply on it every day”, Chief Chendeka Said.
In a similar vein, the town Chief of Small Sefadu has urged his people especially the youths to embark on skills training and farming to cushion the livelihood problems at the village noting that diamonds have failed the district.
Meanwhile, when contacted on the issue of poor construction of the aforementioned bridge.
The Mayor of the Koidu New Sembehun City Council promised to engage Engineer George on the reported poor work.
