A MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH BY HANGING

The Resident High Court Judge in Kono District Honourable Justice Albert Moody has on Tuesday 13th July, 2021 sentenced to death by hanging Raymond Ansumana for murder contrary to law. According to the particulars of offence, the convict on Wednesday 21st June, 2017 at Resettlement Kimbadu Area, Tankoro Chiefdom, Kono District kicked and hit his wife in her abdomen and head with a touch light who later died at the Government Hospital, Koidu city, Gbense Chiefdom, Kono Judicial District in the Eastern Province of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

The particulars of offence further that the convict resulted to the aforementioned Act on the basis of suspecting his wife Mattu Lamin to have fallen in love with another man and as a result he could not control his emotions but rather murder his wife by kicking and hitting Mattu Lamin in her abdomen and on her head with the touch light he had by then.

In the same court David Mattia has been sentenced to imprisonment at the Sefadu correctional Centre for Seven years for sexually penetrating a thirteen (13) year old girl name withheld. The particulars of offence noted that whilst the thirteen year old girl was in search of used plastic bags to fuel the fire she was cooking with, the convict David Mattia took her in his room, stuffed her moth and penetrated her noting that after which the convict took away her pant which had blood stain and deposited it in a nearby toilet.

Ibrahim Tehwoh was also sentenced to seven years imprisonment for digitally (fingering) penetrating a seven year old girl name withheld. However in the same Sefadu High Court, William Tamba Lamin was acquitted and discharged for allegedly penetrating a girl.

Tamba Lamin after his release told our correspondent in an exclusive interview that he spent over one year behind bars for no just cause as the girl he was alleged to have penetrated was of the age of discretion and his girlfriend.

He pointed out that the whole scenario was stage managed by some family members of the girl in order to discontinue their love relationship but as God could have it he has been acquitted and discharged. He further thanked the Legal Aid Board and Justice Albert Moody for proving to him that there is justice in the judiciary system in the district and the country as a whole.

 Whilst promising to comport himself in order to avoid the ugly reoccurrence, William Tamba Lamin strictly advised his colleague youths to be careful with the relationships they make. Meanwhile, over five sexual penetration cases and the alleged murder case involving Isatu Jalloh was adjourned to the 27th July, 2021 due to absent of witnesses in court.
