On the 8th November, 2021 the women and girls protection services Sierra Leone a community based organization in Portloko that works with girls and women in the district visited Mathaska Village in Bekeh Loko Chiefdom, Port loko district.
The purpose of the visit was to engage the community on girls mentorship and to have dialogue with parents and community stakeholders for their consent before the said mentorship.
It was a surprise seeing girls ages 11, and 14 as teenage mothers and out of school while others are enjoying the free quality education.
According to the coordinator for the aforesaid organization, Kadiatu Tholley these children are still young to sit at home and not benefiting from the free education.
As an organization she said, they are not strong financially to support them to go back to school but through what she described as advocating for children which is one of the priorities of the organization. She called on stakeholders and humanitarians to come to the aid of those vulnerable children by providing them with school materials which include: uniforms, books, food among others things.
She advised the children to focus on the free quality education and explore all opportunities accorded them so as to gain their lost glory and build their future.
