The winner of Miss Europe 2020 is a Sierra Leonean; Lara Jalloh. Many home are cheerful about her achievement that has put the country to the limelight.
‘’I want to thank you all and thank the people of Sierra Leone including Minister of Tourism and the Vice President for this welcome, and I am also proud to be a Sierra Leone, an upbeat Larry Jalloh is quoted as saying.
In her courtesy visit to the Vice President of Sierra Leone Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Miss Europe 2020, Lara Jalloh reassured state functionaries linked to her laurels that she prepared to promote the image of the country globally.
Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh on behalf of the government and people of Sierra Leone congratulated Lara Jalloh for her remarkable victory.
Vice President Juldeh Jalloh added that the country will showcase Lara Jalloh as a pageantry ambassador to fly the country’s flag internationally.
Presenting Miss Europe 2020 to the first Lady of Sierra Leone, Madam Fatima Jabbie Bio, Minister of Tourism, Memunatu Pratt said Lara is the first Sierra Leonean to have won Miss Europe. She described the feat as a big opportunity taking Sierra Leone to higher height of international recognition.
Madam Pratt noted that since 2018, the First Lady has shown great support towards the upgrade of the Tourism and Entertainment industry, something that accounts for her popularity among Sierra Leoneans.
She added that Madam Fatima Bio is the most philanthropic and humanitarian driven First Lady the country has ever had and that is the reason they are now presenting Ms. Lara Jalloh, a Sierra Leonean with a French citizenship status too.
‘’This is a big opportunity to showcase Sierra Leone on the international Stage and that it is also a turn-around time for Sierra Leone as what is happening now has never happened before. This is as a result of the support of the President and First Lady, throwing her weight behind women and girls which is quite remarkable. Winning the Miss Europe 2020 award has definitely put Sierra Leone above many other African countries,” Madam Pratt observed.
In her statement, the First Lady of the republic of Sierra Leone Madam Fatima Bio reflected her mind back when she was in the beauty pageant contest, which put her in a frame of mind to appreciate the feelings of Lara Jalloh.
She added that there is a whole lot of perceptions about beauty queens in people’s eyes, but noted that most beauty queens have used this platform wisely to become very successful.
Madam Bio admonished Ms. Jalloh that she can use the Miss Europe victory to transform herself and show people that good things come from Africa too. She also encouraged Lara Jalloh to use this opportunity and portray Africa as the best place in the world and more importantly showcase Sierra Leone as she is now a Goodwill Ambassador of the country.
