The Liberia versus Sierra Leone three-day friendly encounter in Scrabble has come to an end at the Samuel K. doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia, with team Liberia emerging victorious over their Sierra Leonean counterparts after putting up an outstanding performance.

Host Liberia continued with an outstanding performance after overwhelmingly defeating Sierra Leone in the first leg in Freetown, December 2020.

Sierra Leone was hoping to regain back its ranking over Liberia but the host proved too strong for the visitors.

According to Lester Morris Jr, the head of the Liberian Scrabble Association, the secret behind their success is that they take the game of Scrabble very serious and they have become accustomed to playing more games, as according to him each and every day they make sure they engage themselves in playing the game.

He noted that he wants the Friendly encounter to be like an annual event as it will help to strengthen the relationship between the two Mano River Union Countries.

Mr Morris boasted that Liberian Scrabble players are a force to reckon with in West Africa as they are looking forward to playing more Friendlies.

He affirmed that they had really wanted the trophy they placed for the three days Friendly to be won by Sierra Leone but unfortunately that did not happen.

The President of the National Scrabble Association of Sierra Leone Christian Asgill said this was not what they were expecting as during the entire three days International Scrabble Friendly with Liberia they were not at their best, but went further in assuring scrabble fans that they will return home and adequately prepare for the next time Liberia will visit Sierra Leone in December 2021.

Mr Asgill said they tried very hard to give the Liberians a tough game but again the tilles did not favour them but the Liberians.
