Statistical data have shown that this year’s National Primary School Examination (NPSE) was topped by Falaba district in the remote north and the data further show that boys did better than girls with pass marks of 77.9% and 76.2% respectively.

Deputy Minister of Education, Madam Emily Gogra has described the result as better than the previous years. She said Pujehun and Moyamba districts performed impressively better than the previous years.

She noted that based on the low marks scored by the pupils who were made to sit the exam in Guinea, there is need for more training of the teachers so that the pupils will perform better next time.

She said heads of schools will be engaged this week on the price norm for school colors adding that the results will be circulated to the schools this week.

Parents and guardians have expressed satisfaction over the early release of the results especially the latest improvement with the use of SMS to check for the result by dialing 468.

It could be recalled that 161,691,000 pupils sat the exam; the highest mark which is 354 came from Falaba.

Scoring 230 is a fail mark and the Ministry is calling on those who failed not to lose hope but try again in the subsequent siting.

Parents have got enough time to prepare against September when the fresh academic year is supposed to commence.

However, parents have not been staying 50metres away from the examination halls and this is said to be a contributing factor influencing panic among the candidates.
