The Gynaecologist attached to the Koidu Government Hospital has told this medium that infertility among women is on the increase in Kono District. Whilst substantiating his statement, Dr. Semanda foremost described infertility as a state of being unable to conceive and reproduce offspring or children noting that among men it is the inability to impregnate a woman. Dr Semanda further maintained that one of the causes of infertility cannot be unconnected with either the man or woman suffering from sexual infection. Asked to know his intervention as the gynaecologist attached to the Koidu Government Hospital Dr Dan Semanda pointed out that the lack of equipment for him to execute his duties well is a challenge that cannot be overemphasized adding that as a doctor trained in Africa; he is presently improvising to do his work because the medical treatment for infertility is very expensive and unaffordable in the country. Dr Dan Semanda noted that the status of general medication in the country has little or nothing to write home about.

He thanked Partners In Health (PIH) for their uncountable supports to the Koidu Government Hospital and urged them to do more as the reward for hard word is more work. “I advise all and sundry to promptly report at the KGH whenever health implications are noticed, Dr Semanda concluded.
