The Honourable Member of Parliament representing constituency 028 in Kono District has called on the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education including relevant stakeholders in the education sector to improve on the status of education in the district by the setting up of science laboratories in the various secondary schools within the district, that will expose the science pupils in the district to modern days scientific experiment should the district directly benefits from the would be Kono University of Science and Technology.
Honourable Sahr Charles made the clarion call in an interview with our A-Z multimedia correspondent in Kono District with regards the repeal and replacement of Sierra Leone’s 2005 higher education act into the country’s university act 2021. The repeal and replacement of the act which brought the creation of Kono University of Science and Technology was unanimously done by the law makers during a three day debate in the well of Parliament in Freetown.
Constituency 028 Honourable member of Parliament Sahr Charles further expressed hope that as the government is planning to commence online access course at the would be Kono University of Science and Technology in September 2021, it will lead to the benefit of the people, especially beneficiary students.
He intimated to our correspondent that, eighty percent (80%) of all legality process for the establishment of the university in Kono has been done.
