John Marrah, a labourer, on Thursday made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, where he was arraigned on two counts of Conspiracy to Commit a Crime and Burglary and Larceny, contrary to Sections 25(1) and 13(a) of the Larceny Act, 1916, respectively.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Thursday, 29th October 2026, at Mount Carmel, New England Ville, in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly conspired with other persons, who are currently at large, to commit burglary and larceny.
The second count alleged that, on the same date and at the same location, the accused, with intent to steal, broke into and entered the dwelling house of Dawdius During and allegedly stole a Samsung Galaxy A16 mobile phone and a Dell laptop, both valued at NLe 13,000, belonging to the complainant.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court for committal proceedings.
The prosecutor, Inspector Kadie Taylor, informed the court that she had served the accused with copies of the case and inquiry files. The accused, who was not legally represented, acknowledged receipt of the documents.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences.
The matter was adjourned to 10th November 2026 for further proceedings.
