Hon. Fatmata Bintu Bockarie has commended President Dr. Julius Maada Bio for the development priorities outlined in his 2026 State Opening Address, while appealing to the Government to construct the Njabagun Junction-to-Yargoi Road and bridges at Njagbahum and Yargoi to improve transportation and connectivity in her constituency.

Speaking during the parliamentary debate on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, Hon. Bockarie expressed appreciation for the President’s address, describing it as more than a ceremonial statement. She noted that the declaration of 2026 as the Year of Action places greater responsibility on Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to move beyond promises and deliver measurable development results.

She welcomed the Government’s commitment to increasing food production, expanding access to electricity and improving the availability of clean drinking water, describing these as essential priorities that directly affect the livelihoods of ordinary citizens. She also pledged to monitor the implementation of these commitments to ensure that her constituents benefit from the Government’s development programmes.

The Honourable Member also acknowledged the return of her colleague from the All People’s Congress (APC), emphasizing that a healthy democracy requires both an effective government and a responsible opposition. She urged Members of Parliament to embrace constructive debate, mutual respect and national unity, stressing that their primary responsibility is to serve the interests of the people rather than engage in unnecessary political confrontations.

On infrastructure development, Hon. Bockarie acknowledged the Government’s efforts but appealed for the construction of the Njabagun Junction-to-Yargoi Road, as well as bridges at Njagbahum and Yargoi. She explained that these projects would improve connectivity, ease transportation difficulties and enhance access to essential services for communities within her constituency.

She concluded by emphasizing the need to translate the commitments outlined in the President’s address into tangible development projects that will improve the living conditions of citizens.
