Twenty-one-year-old Abubakarr Kamara, a motorbike rider, has been committed to the High Court in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 to stand trial for alleged shop breaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026, at Levuma Beach in the Western Area of Freetown, the defendant allegedly broke into a shop, restaurant and bar belonging to Justice Mongeh Fofanah Deen Tarawally, ESQ, with intent to steal.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant stole two wooden panel doors, each valued at Le3,000, and three solar-powered CCTV cameras, also valued at Le3,000 each, bringing the total value of the alleged stolen property to Le15,000. The items are said to belong to Justice Mongeh Fofanah Deen Tarawally, ESQ.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken, as the matter was before the court for committal proceedings.

The prosecution was represented by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Delilah Wellington, ESQ, who led evidence from a prosecution witness before the case file was withdrawn for a ruling.

The defendant was not legally represented during the proceedings.

In his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that, having considered the prosecution’s evidence and the statement made by the defendant, he was satisfied that sufficient evidence had been presented to warrant committing the matter to the High Court for trial.
