President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, decorated newly promoted generals of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) during a ceremony at State House, urging them to uphold integrity and demonstrate responsible leadership in the discharge of their duties.
The ceremony also featured the oath-taking of the newly promoted senior military officers, marking a significant milestone in their military careers and continued service to the nation.
President Bio expressed delight at presiding over the ceremony, congratulating the officers on their promotions and encouraging them to demonstrate integrity, professionalism and accountability as they assume their new responsibilities.
“I was delighted to preside over the decoration and oath-taking ceremony for the newly promoted Generals of the RSLAF. I congratulated them on their promotions and encouraged them to lead with integrity as they carry out their duties,” the President stated.
He also commended the officers’ family members for their unwavering support throughout their years of military service, acknowledging the important role families play in helping military personnel fulfil their professional responsibilities.
The decoration and oath-taking ceremony formed part of the formal process of recognizing the officers’ promotions and confirming their commitment to serving the country in their new capacities.
The newly promoted generals are expected to play key roles in strengthening the leadership, discipline and operational effectiveness of the RSLAF as they take on their new responsibilities.
