SLCA FEMALE PATRIOTS BRACE UP FOR ICC QUALIFIERS

The Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) female Patriots team has started their test series’ to select the players that will be representing Sierra Leone in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket Tournament in Botswana.

 The qualifiers are set to take place on 7th September 2021.

According to Sarah Johnson the head coach of the female Patriots team, they need to play six (6) test series’ to ascertain the confidence of the players that will be making the final list of Cricketers.

 A total of (16) Female Patriots Cricketers will have to make the trip to Botswana and that will be determined after the Click Euro app with high performance.

She affirmed that base on the last performance in their outing in Botswana, the female Patriots team is in high spirits to get the qualifications because they came as runners up and this time they want to qualify the nation to the ICC tournament.

He added that the Cricketers have mastered the skills in the game of Cricket that has to do with Bolling, Bating, Fielding and Wicket- Keeping and they are currently mastering how to make good runs, because the technical team is working hard to rectify the pitfalls with the team before departing.

Sarah Johnson furthered that with the determination she is seeing from the team there is great hope that the team will clinch a spot and qualify.

She end up that though they are going to the qualifications with the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the World they have taken tutorial to help team cope with the trend of the pandemic globally. Although back home they are facing with challenges with preparation because they currently training in the raining season with no indoor facilities to train but they working on the training on good weather basis because they want to get the team well prepared before leaving for the tournament.

The Technical director has disclosed that they received a message from ICC that the U-19 Cricket tournament has been called off.

 They are calling on the Government, the Ministry of Sports, the national Sports Authority to throw more support to the Cricket Association because the sports has been doing tremendously well both locally and international.
