Twenty-two-year-old Mohamed Jalloh, a fibre installer, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 for allegedly breaking into a shop and stealing goods valued at Le77, 880.

The defendant is facing one count of shop breaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Long Bench Touch, Thompson Bay, off Wilkinson Road, in the Western Area of Freetown, Jalloh allegedly broke into a shop with intent to steal.

The items listed in the charge included two cartons of Bama mayonnaise, JPB mayonnaise, five cartons of Zuwan luncheon meat, one bundle of Pampers, and other assorted goods, with a total stated value of Le77, 880. The items were allegedly the property of Aminata Kargbo.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken, as the matter is being handled through committal proceedings.

The prosecutor, DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo, informed the court that he had served the defendant with copies of the case and inquiry files.

Jalloh, who was not legally represented, acknowledged receipt of the documents.

Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and remanded the defendant at the Male Correctional Facility.

The matter was adjourned to October 21, 2026, for further proceedings.
