Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) has signed a five-year partnership agreement worth US$400,000 with Kadat Group of Companies to strengthen domestic cricket competitions and promote the sport among young people.
The agreement was signed on Saturday at Kadat Group’s headquarters on Hennessey Street in Freetown by CSL Board Chairman Francis Trevor Samura and General Manager Chrispin E. George, in the presence of board members and stakeholders from both organizations.
The partnership aims to modernize Sierra Leone’s senior cricket leagues, strengthen the development of the sport and increase its popularity across the country. CSL is also seeking to position cricket as the second most popular sport in Sierra Leone.
The agreement covers the organization of the Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s Cricket Leagues, as well as support for the Senior Men’s Patriots and Senior Women’s Patriots teams.
Meanwhile, refurbishment work at the Kingtom Oval has reached an advanced stage, with grading of the outfield completed earlier this week. Vehicles that had been parked on the eastern side of the oval were also towed away to prepare the facility for upcoming league activities.
Preparations for the new season have also gathered momentum, with clubs engaging in player transfers and loan deals, while preparations for team photoshoots are underway.
The partnership marks a significant step for the new CSL Board as it begins its five-year tenure, with ambitions to improve cricket infrastructure, strengthen domestic competitions and expand the sport’s reach across Sierra Leone.
