Twenty-seven-year-old Alhaji Ibrahim Kargbo, a cart pusher, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 over three charges, including conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery with aggravation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The charges are brought under the relevant provisions of the law, including Section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916, as repealed and replaced by Section 1 of the Schedule to the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022), and Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Low Cost Step, Kissy, in the Western Area of Freetown, Kargbo allegedly conspired with other persons unknown to commit robbery with aggravation.

Count two alleged that, on the same date and at the same location, the defendant, while armed with a machete, robbed Daniel Samura of an iPhone 12 Pro Max, a sky-blue power bank and Le5,000 in cash. The items were said to have a combined value of Le16, 500 and belonged to Samura.

The third count alleged that Kargbo assaulted Samura at the same location and on the same date, thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken because the matter is being heard under committal proceedings.

The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police I. S. Mansaray, informed the court that the defendant had been served with a copy of the case and inquiry file.

Kargbo, who was not legally represented, confirmed receipt of the documents.

Magistrate Fornah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences, and remanded the defendant at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to October 15, 2026.
