East End Lions FC will take on Port Authority FC this weekend in a highly anticipated East End derby in Week One of the Leone Rock Premier League at the newly renovated Government Trade Centre artificial turf in Freetown.

Both sides have a rich history in Sierra Leone’s top-flight football and will be looking to make a strong start to the new league campaign.

East End Lions have defeated Port Authority twice in their last six meetings across all competitions, while Port Authority have recorded one victory. The remaining three encounters ended in draws. In the last league campaign, both teams played out goalless draws in their respective home and away fixtures.

Port Authority have strengthened their squad by bringing in eight new players ahead of the new campaign. Head Coach Hassan Milla Sesay will be hoping his new-look side can secure a winning start against East End Lions.

East End Lions have also added nine players to their squad, including foreign-based players, as they aim to mount a strong challenge in this season’s Leone Rock Premier League.

The match will be East End Lions’ first league fixture at the newly renovated Government Trade Centre artificial turf, giving the hosts an opportunity to begin their campaign on home soil with a positive result.

East End Lions will also be looking to bounce back from their disappointing Unity Cup defeat to Bo Rangers FC on Sunday at the Southern Arena Stadium.

The highly contested East End derby is scheduled to kick off at 4:15 p.m., with both teams eager to begin their top-flight league campaign on a winning note.
