Sierra Leone’s National U-20 Male Team, the Shooting Stars, have intensified preparations ahead of the WAFU Zone A U-20 Championship, which serves as a qualifying pathway to the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
As part of their preparations, the Shooting Stars defeated Old Edwardians FC 5-3 in a warm-up friendly played at the Sierra Leone Football Association Academy playing field.
The Shooting Stars came from a goal down to secure the victory against the May Park Boys, as the technical team continued to assess the squad ahead of the regional competition.
The friendly also provided Old Edwardians FC with an opportunity to prepare for the start of the Leone Rock Premier League.
The Shooting Stars have been engaged in intensive training sessions focused on fitness, tactical organization, teamwork and match readiness as the team prepares for the WAFU Zone A tournament.
Sierra Leone are scheduled to depart for Mali on Tuesday, where they will continue their preparations ahead of their opening fixture.
The Shooting Stars will begin their campaign against Guinea-Bissau on October 16, 2026, at the Mamadou Konaté Stadium in Bamako, Mali.
The team will be hoping to make a strong start to the competition as they pursue qualification for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
