Twenty-three-year-old Alhaji Issa Kamara has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on a charge of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on September 7, 2026, at Siaka Stevens Street in the Western Area of Freetown, Kamara allegedly stole 10 metres of copper-plated electric cable valued at Le1, 500 per metre, with a total value of Le15, 000.
The cables were alleged to be the property of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA).
When the charge was read and explained to him in court, Kamara pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Kadie Taylor, informed the court that she had served the accused with a copy of the case and inquiry file. Kamara confirmed receipt of the documents.
The accused was not legally represented during the proceedings.
Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail and remanded Kamara at the Male Correctional Centre.
The matter was adjourned to October 8, 2026.
