Thirty-year-old Dauda Kargbo, a kekeh rider, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after pleading guilty to obtaining money by false pretences.

Kargbo appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, where he was arraigned on one count of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the Officers’ Mess, Wilberforce Barracks, Western Area, Freetown, Kargbo allegedly obtained Le38, 000 from Isatu Sesay with intent to defraud.

The prosecution alleged that Kargbo falsely represented to Sesay that he had a blue TVS tricycle, bearing registration number AYX 776, for sale, knowing the representation to be false.

When the charge was read and explained to him in court, Kargbo pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting the matter, Inspector Kadie Taylor informed the court that Kargbo had no previous criminal record and was a first-time offender.

Following his guilty plea, Magistrate Jah remanded Kargbo at the Male Correctional Facility pending sentencing.

The matter was adjourned to October 2, 2026, for the production of the records and sentencing.
