Seven in Jail for Illegal Abstraction of Electricity

Accused persons Ramatu Turay, Isatu Marrah, Mohamed Kamara, Mohamed Santigie Kamara, Abdul Kassim Komeh and Sallieu Ibrahim Kamara have appeared for the second time before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Court No: 1 Pademba Road Court in Freetown on the12th July, 2021 for illegal abstraction of electricity supply contrary to section 68 of the National Electricity Act No.6 of 2011.

According to police charge sheets, the accused persons were charged with one count.

It is  alleged in count one that the accused persons on the 3rd July, 2021 at Black Hall Road Freetown, dishonestly abstracted electricity supply at the electricity distribution and supply authority (EDSA) to be diverted to said houses within Black Hall Road and Bai Bureh Road in Freetown.

It could be recall that the six accused persons were charged to court on the 9th July, 2021 for dishonestly using electricity supply contrary to section 68 of the National Electricity Act No.6 of 2011.

 Magistrate Sahr Keikura refused bail to the six accused persons.

The two female accused persons were sent to the Female Correctional Center and the four accused person were sent to the male Correctional center.  Inspector Kumba is representing the State while C. Pujeh representing all accused persons. The matter has been adjourned to the 16th July, 2021.
