The Town Chief of Small Sefadu in Nimikoro Chiefdom, Kono District, Chief Sahr Chendeka Kondeh, has called for the establishment of a police post in the community following the mysterious death of a man identified as Beloh Conteh.
Chief Kondeh made the call while speaking to our correspondent about the circumstances surrounding Conteh’s death. He said a permanent police presence in Small Sefadu and neighbouring communities would help strengthen security and address concerns over violence, drug abuse and other criminal activities.
Chief Kondeh said he became aware of Conteh’s death on Friday, September 11, 2026, when he went to the mosque for evening prayers and saw the deceased’s remains being prepared for burial.
He said he initially inquired about the identity of the deceased and was informed that the remains were those of Beloh Conteh.
According to Chief Kondeh, before the burial could proceed, one of the individuals who participated in washing the body reportedly noticed a serious injury to the deceased’s head and raised concerns.
He said the discovery prompted him to suspend the funeral rites and contact the Operations Officer at the Motema Police Division to request police assistance.
Chief Kondeh explained that the police were unable to respond that night due to a reported fuel shortage but arrived the following morning and transported the deceased’s remains to the Koidu Government Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
He further disclosed that two suspects are currently in police custody assisting with the investigation. They have been identified as Kumba Bundaka of Small Sefadu and Stephen Korossa of Motema.
According to reports, prior to the incident, Korossa had allegedly visited Bundaka’s residence, where an argument reportedly broke out over an alleged romantic relationship involving Bundaka and the deceased.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged argument and Conteh’s death remain under investigation by the police.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Beloh Conteh are at the Koidu Government Hospital mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
