Celebrations marking the 77th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 55th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Sierra Leone have ended with a well-attended and colourful National Day Reception at the Chinese Embassy in Freetown.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished personalities, including state actors, diplomats, representatives of the Sierra Leone-China Alumni Association (SISLAA), and members of the media.
The event marked another milestone in the cordial bilateral relations between China and Sierra Leone, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation.
The Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Zhao Yong, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeneba Bangura, highlighted the positive steps taken by both countries to deepen their relationship, particularly in the areas of socio-economic development.
Both officials reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and building on the achievements recorded over the years.
Highlights of the celebration included the cutting of the anniversary cake by Ambassador Zhao Yong and Deputy Minister Bangura, a toast, and cultural performances.
