Thirty-five-year-old businessman Ishmael Turay, 38-year-old bar attendant David Turay, 32-year-old electrician Ibrahim Paul Sangoh, and 32-year-old Mohamed Kamara have been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1.
The four accused are facing three counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861; wounding, contrary to Section 20 of the same Act; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Act.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at No. 2 River Community, off Peninsular Road, Western Area, Freetown, the accused allegedly unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm to Joseph Kamara with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
Count two alleged that, on the same date and at the same location, the accused unlawfully and maliciously wounded Joseph Kamara.
Count three further alleged that, on the same date and at the same place, the accused assaulted Joseph Kamara, thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken as the matter is being heard under committal proceedings.
The prosecution, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Juan M. S. Bull, informed the court that copies of the case file and inquiry file had been served on defence counsel.
Defence counsel A. O. Gbla confirmed receipt of the documents and applied for bail on behalf of all four accused pursuant to Section 76(1)(c) of the Criminal Procedure Act 2024.
Magistrate Jah, however, refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences.
The matter was adjourned to September 23, 2026
