Twenty-seven-year-old Mohamed Kamara, a tricycle rider, has been granted bail by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 after being accused of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1) (IV) (a) of the Larceny Act, 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, between July 1 and 31, 2026, at No. 39 Goderich Street, Western Area in Freetown, Kamara allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit a TVS tricycle, registration number AYE 571, valued at 50,000 new Leones.
The tricycle was allegedly entrusted to him by Gibrilla Pito Sesay for the purpose of sale.
When the charge was read and explained to Kamara, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court for committal proceedings.
The prosecution, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen, informed the court that the defendant had been served with copies of the case documents and the inquiry file.
Kamara confirmed receipt of the documents and appeared before the court without legal representation.
Following the proceedings, Magistrate Jah granted Kamara bail in the sum of 60,000 new Leones, with one surety in the like sum.
The court ordered that the surety must be a Sierra Leonean resident within the Freetown jurisdiction and must produce a valid identification card. The bail is subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The matter was adjourned to September 16, 2026, for further proceedings.
