Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown has sentenced Mohamed Conteh, a motorbike rider, to 18 months imprisonment for larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
Conteh was sentenced on Thursday, September 10, 2026, after being convicted of stealing a navy-blue TVS motorbike valued at NLe26, 000.
According to the particulars of the offence, Conteh, on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Pentagon in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, stole one navy-blue TVS motorbike bearing registration number AYR 450, valued at NLe26, 000 and belonging to Saidu Sesay.
During the proceedings, Prosecutor Deputy Superintendent of Police Conteh S. informed the court that the accused was a first-time offender.
Conteh was not legally represented. He pleaded with the court for mercy, asking the Magistrate to temper justice with mercy.
In his ruling, Magistrate Fornah took into consideration that Conteh was a first-time offender and had pleaded for mercy.
The Magistrate therefore sentenced him to 18 months imprisonment, with an alternative order to restore the stolen motorbike to the complainant. He further ordered that the custodial sentence, if served, be served in full.
